Musings: Cluelessness causes (fear of) terrorism

Truly "we have nothing to fear but fear itself." If anyone sounding the terrorist alert in Boston had a shred of a cultural awareness or the chance to speak to anyone under 30 who has seen Aqua Teen Hunger Force ("number one in the hood, yo"), they wouldn't have said, "Omigod, it's a bomb!" but "Hey, Mooninites..."

The Adult Swim promotion of the five-year-old TV show ran without incident for as long as 20 days in 10 major cities until fearmongers sounded a terrorism false alarm in Boston. Of the "hoax devices" that resembled "bombs," Assistant Attorney General John Grossman said, "It's clear the intent was to get attention by causing fear and unrest that there was a bomb in that location." Um, guys -- it's just the obnoxious and egotistical Err giving Earthlings the finger... (See this YouTube clip.)

Fear has one beneficial purpose among clueless publicans: If a man jumps or starts upon seeing a black cat's shadow, it shows he's really a coward who, despite his bluster and bravado, is not only afraid of a kitty's shadow, but he didn't recognize it as such.
