VERB: Slang To dress or decorate elaborately; adorn or embellish: gussied herself up in sequins and feathers.
ETYMOLOGY: Perhaps from Australian slang gussie, an effeminate man, from Gussie, diminutive of the personal name Augustus.

One of my grandfathers favorite things to say when he was a mazed by something was"Dear gussy rosebud". I was never quite sure where he got it unless it had something to do with the sled in Citizen Kane which was a movie he really liked... :-) B
