Family dynamics can be a b---- but we make the bed we lie in. When you don’t speak up for yourself in the past, people don’t expect you to speak up for yourself in the present. And what’s keeping you from speaking up for yourself now? Every moment is a fresh opportunity. “Now is the day of salvation.” I don’t believe in generational payback, that’s just fodder for cartoon strip chuckles. Nothing worthwhile is keeping you from speaking and acting to get what you want or think right for yourself. Rather than describe what isn’t working, concentrate on bringing about what works better.
