Interesting quote choice....
On the flip side, can marriage really bring pleasure? Sometimes I think I glimpse it on the faces of couples I see. But, maybe it is only fleeting. We can't know what really goes on behind closed doors. A meaningful and happy marriage involves devotion, commitment, forgiveness, love, support and understanding.
Pain is also a part of marriage, as it is a part of life in general.
The quote was chosen for the humor of contrast only. It's certainly a much larger question than can be captured in a one-liner.
