Dialogues: You think too much

Q. You think too much.
A. You know, I get that a lot, and I finally realized that I think just enough for who God made me to be. Thinking is fun; I feel like an otter swimming when I do it, and it gets me to where I need to go. Now if you can't or don't want to think that much, that's your choice; but don't lay blame on me by setting yourself up as the standard by which I am to be compared and judged.

Here's one of my favorites, "You're an overachiever!"

Please explain to me how one can achieve more than one achieves?

I, too, like to think. Thinking feels warm, like snuggling in a comforter. I can't think of any reason why I wouldn't want to think.

One is called an "overachiever" when you are accomplishing more than others -- making them look bad and so shamed? I think it was Samuel Johnson who said "America is the only place where an intelligent man will be made to feel inferior to the less intelligent man."

Nevertheless, we have enough models of humanity, industry and prosperity to continue on our chosen path, even if others want to lag behind. Look to those who serve their country, their church and their communities. Rudy Giuliani comes to mind.
