Email: Seeking treasure [EH]

Accept what has happened. Have hope for what is yet to happen. Don't mix them up much less stir in a whole pot of negatives.

God gives us the grace to live each day, no matter what.

[Remember] the mother in Bye, Bye Birdie? "I'll just sit here with the rest of the garbage..." It's not too far of a stone's throw from "I'll just forever be the hidden treasure that no man ever found..."

How depressing... There's a LOT more to life then having some other person to have to consult or answer to! For me that would be a terrible way to live. To judge my accomplishments and happiness as to whether I have someone else attached to me! There's WAY too much fun to be had out there.

Point taken, but to be fair I think the original notion was that fun can also be had with that special someone. As usual, my point is not to fixate myopically on only one option or the other, and beat oneself (mea culpa) repeatedly because it has not arrived _yet_, but to always have hope. Hope, of course, requires positive thought and effective action -- not passive or negative fatalism. Yes, life is full of opportunities for fun and discovery! Besides, being whole and happy is more important than whether one is single or married.

Ah, I agree whole heartedly!

But just the visual image of someone actually expressing that they'll "just sit here with the rest of the garbage..." was such a depressing defeatist outlook… My heart sunk when I read that! I could not imagine anyone allowing themselves to sink to such a depth that their livelyhood would be dependant upon having that "someone special"! :)
