Musings: Minnesota, the green

It's great to be back in good ol' environmentally sensitive Minnesota. In Houston, 70-80 percent of the cars -- I mean, vehicles -- are SUVs and pickup trucks. In Minnesota, 70-80 percent of the cars are cars.

From the sky, the Twin Cities metro area is a rich verdant green. Some 90 percent is as thickly treed as the greenest 10 percent of Houston, which is Memorial Park and River Oaks. Best of all, the Twin Cities are so neatly laid out that Houston, by comparison, looks like a bomb hit it. From above, with its perpetual and pervasive construction, Houston more closely resembles a post-Katrina clutter than a real city.

So, Stevie D:
When are you relocating back to Minnesota? You would, after all, be closer to all of your loved ones except your youngest. You really don't like Houston from this description. We haven't made a Texan of you yet???

Hugs,
Donna B.

Please don't get your Texas dander up. I'm not going back to Minnesota unless the Lord tells me to. I'm just stating facts: except for the Piney Woods (which are most like Minnesota), there is no comparison when it comes to clean, green living and urban planning.

Dander is down, Stevie D. Texas is a young state. Just give us some time! After all, my hometown was only consolidated in 1926, and that with the "help" of the Texas Rangers! Houston, admittedly, is just a hodge-podge. What the heck were they thinking? Hugs, dgb
