Musings: Why men flip

It's a testosterone thing; you wouldn't understand, so don't ask much less complain about it. Men don't want to waste time; they prefer to stay on edge, get in thick of things, be hands on; they want to see and want to do, and now; taking the slow path to anything is anathema. Being male means flipping; you can't have one without the other. So if you're grateful to have a man in your life, channel flipping seems a small price to pay, right?

I've heard it said that flipping goes waaaay back....picture it....cave FAMILY relaxing inside, nurtured by the cave WOMAN of the house..while caveMAN sits at the door of the cave watching and scanning the horizon for danger...he checks the scene in the left direction...he looks right, checks there, back to scene 1..no, wait....checks ahead...back one more time to check what is happening yonder to the left....
It's an age-old story...the technology is different that's all .....now they just exercise the thumb instead of the neck....

chances are, while children suffer from abuse and starvation, while women die of breast cancer and seniors fall victim to alzheimer's.... someone is putting research money and effort into developing the "ultra voice activated" (with voice recognition capabilities to avoid control by terrorists...or small children) remote control device...

Oh yes, I understand it ...I lived it...we all must face and make choices...some just choose thumb-punching (until they find one they like)to relationship building....

Good points all, and entertainingly said, but remember: It doesn't have to be either/or... Men *can* work on their relationships at the same time they are channel flipping, or developing new channel flippers. (Men, just don't call them "labor-saving devices" please!)
