Trivia: Dishes in soap

All my life I have put dishes (plates) in the dishwasher facing in. (I've never seen it done any other way.) I just now tried putting them in facing out, however, and discovered that not only do the stays hold bowls and plates in an upright position better this way -- they don't careen into the side like they careen into the center -- but the center spout has much greater freedom to spray and wash the dishes in the upper tray. I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier!

Press: Does that scream sound familiar? - ABC

"In fact, the scream worked so well, it became a go-to for sound editors. The blood-curdling shriek was heard in "Them!" in 1954, "Land of the Pharaohs" in 1955 and "The Green Berets" in 1963, without anyone catching on.

Nobody, that is, except Ben Burtt, a budding sound editor and sound effects buff at the University of Southern California. Burtt started to notice the distinctive scream popping up everywhere."

(I began commenting on this more than a dozen years ago.)

Pets: No Yale for Molley

I think Molley is going to have to give up the dream of attending an Ivy league college. I took her out along Hunter's Trace to do her business and she began barking ferociously at my threatening shadow up on the opposite bank.
